Hello Friends and Valued Supporters,

I’m excited to announce that I’m running for re-election to the Trustee Area 2 seat on the Davis Joint Unified School District Board of Education.  Area 2 encompasses parts of East Davis, Wildhorse, and North Davis.

It has been a rewarding experience to serve as your trustee these past four years.

As a trustee, I’ve had the honor to work with families, students, teachers and staff to make our district a place where students can learn, grow and prepare for life after their K-12 education. I’ve worked to ensure our students feel safe and respected in our schools while receiving a high quality education. I'm a mother and grandmother with a deep commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. As your representative on the School Board, I am committed to collaborative and inclusive decision making, inclusive practices and diverse representation throughout the district, prioritizing the physical, mental and emotional health, and safety of all students, teachers and staff, fiscal responsibility and accountability.

I have the experience, skills and commitment to serve as Area 2 Trustee. During my term on the board,  I completed the California School Board Association’s Masters in Governance courses; grounding my work in evidence based practices. I have been a parent leader and volunteer in Davis schools since my oldest child started kindergarten over 25 years ago.  I was elected to multiple School Site Councils and have served on a wide range of DJUSD committees, including Superintendent’s Parent Advisory Committee, and the Superintendent’s Career Tech Education Advisory Committee.  In 2019, I was appointed to the DJUSD Parcel Tax Oversight Committee where I served as the chair.  I was PTA President at Fairfield Elementary, Valley Oak Elementary, and Davis Senior High, and actively participated in school PTAs at North Davis Elementary and Holmes Jr. High School and served on the California State PTA Board with leadership roles in education and legislative policy.  This term, I have served as President and Vice President of the School Board and am currently Vice President of the Yolo County School Boards Association.  In these roles I have proven to be an effective community leader who listens and achieves results.

I’m ready to roll my sleeves up and do it again.  It will take your support and help to win this election.   This year, Election Day is November 5th and I would be honored to have your vote.

Warmest regards,
Lea Darrah
